If you know me or if you've been aware of my art for a while, you know that I am very passionate about my craft. It has evolved over the years and my focus has changed as a result, which is fueled by the constant desire I have to create. What you may not know is that I am also passionate about plants. I enjoy nurturing them and I love when they respond by looking healthy and happy.
At present I own ten plants and I'm always looking around my home to see where I can put more. I usually consider how much sunlight the plant will receive, how large a pot I can fit in a space and what type of plant will look good in that space. No room is off limits. I have plants in the living and dining rooms, as well as the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms.
Some plants fare better than others. I will feed, prune and re-pot as often as is recommended, but simple watering can be a challenge. I have plants that need water on a weekly basis and others that only need watering every couple of months. I've learned the hard way which ones need what. I hate to admit it but I've had to give up on a couple that I just couldn't save. It can be tricky as the seasons change throughout the year too, so I'm constantly researching tips online and I even have a board on Pinterest dedicated to articles I've pinned relating to plant care. It's well worth the effort though. My plant babies help to provide a beautiful oasis from which I create. They're nature's inspiration.
Do you have any favorite houseplants? Let me know and maybe I'll add one to my home. There's always room for one more!
